Shady Deals and Sentencing Woes
Well it looks like someone got caught with their hand in the cookie jar or their millions in illegal wagers at the MGM Grand. Scott Sibella faced the music and was hit with a one year probationary sentence along with a $9,500 fine for failing to report some major shady dealings.
A Gambler's Apology
"You will never see me in your court again," said Sibella probably feeling a bit like a rookie facing my last second shot in the NBA Finals. But hey I guess everyone makes mistakes right?
From Home Runs to High Stakes
Former minor league baseball player Wayne Nix was definitely trying to hit a home run in the illegal bookmaking game. And Sibella didn't just let him play ball he practically rolled out the red carpet with complimentary benefits. Talk about MVP treatment!
Luck Runs Out
Seems like Sibella's luck ran out faster than someone trying to guard me one on one. The DOJ wasn't playing games and revealed the illicit cash flow amounting to over $4 million from Nix's shady business. That's a lot of dough even for a high roller like me.
Unemployed and Unlucky
From high flying exec to unemployed in no time flat looks like Sibella learned that playing fast and loose with the rules can lead to a quick exit. Maybe he should've stuck to hitting the blackjack tables instead of dealing with bookmakers.
Lessons Learned
In the end it seems like the casinos involved got a slap on the wrist too coughing up a hefty $7.45 million combined. Maybe they should've listened to my advice it's all about playing by the rules on and off the court.
