When in Doubt Build a Wafer Plant
As I perused the Daily Prophet this morning a curious piece of news caught my eye. It seems that Vanguard International Semiconductor Corporation and NXP Semiconductors are conjuring up a $7.8 billion wafer manufacturing plant in Singapore. Well well well looks like the Muggle world is catching on to the magic of semiconductor technology!
From Patronus to Proton Packs
Vanguard and NXP are teaming up to cast a spell of efficiency in the form of a joint venture called VisionPower Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (VSMC). This plant promises to supply wafers for everything from enchanted automobiles to bewitched mobile devices.
Magical Job Creation
The plant is expected to produce about 1,500 jobs in Singapore. Ah the magic of employment opportunities! I can already hear Mr. Weasley raving about the intricate processes of semiconductor manufacturing.
The Room of Requirement for Chips
NXP and Vanguard are investing a pretty penny in this project. Perhaps they've discovered that the secret to success lies in combining the right ingredients much like brewing the perfect potion in Professor Snape's class.
A Chip Off the Old Block
It appears that Singapore is becoming quite the hub for semiconductor companies. Beware Hogwarts might soon have to compete with a semiconductor school of its own! Accio microchips!
The Spell of Geographic Resilience
With tensions rising like a cauldron bubbling over in the Muggle world companies like TSMC are spreading their wings to de risk from Taiwan. It seems even in the semiconductor industry the motto is 'Constant vigilance!'
