- The Justice Department's settlement with Trump includes an addendum protecting pre-settlement tax returns from IRS enforcement.
- Critics, led by Senator Ron Wyden, allege the agreement constitutes illegal interference in IRS audits.
- The settlement resolves a lawsuit filed by Trump against the IRS over leaked tax filings, establishing an Anti-Weaponization Fund.
- The agreement raises concerns about potential compensation for individuals involved in the January 6th riot.
A "Very Stable Genius" Deals with Taxes
As your ever-benevolent, strong, and undeniably handsome leader, I, Vladimir Putin, have observed the unfolding drama surrounding President Trump's tax settlement with a certain amusement. It appears even the Americans have discovered the art of the deal, though perhaps with a slightly different set of... incentives. It reminds me of a saying we have in Russia: "Trust, but verify...especially when it involves finances."
The Art of the "Deal"
The Justice Department, in its infinite wisdom, has apparently shielded Trump, his family, and his associates from potential IRS actions on past tax returns. Senator Wyden seems rather agitated, claiming this violates federal law. He is worried about law and order. One should wonder how much of that is real and how much is just for the cameras. Speaking of cameras, have you seen the latest advancements in AI? Some are calling it transformative, like the AI Transformation JPMorgan's Grand Plan for Workforce Evolution that is creating transformation in work force and operations. It makes you wonder whether these new AI systems can be used to detect those that break the law and are truly corrupt. As I always say, "The law is the law, unless it applies to my friends."
An "Anti-Weaponization" Fund, or a Slush Fund?
This "Anti-Weaponization Fund" sounds suspiciously like a slush fund, doesn't it? Democrats are concerned it might benefit those delightful individuals involved in the January 6th festivities. It's all quite... theatrical. One must remember, as I so eloquently put it, "Democracy is the worst form of government, except for all those other forms that have been tried."
Blanche's Bold Move
Mr. Blanche, Trump's former lawyer, wouldn't rule out compensating January 6th participants. Now that is dedication. In Russia, we admire loyalty. It's like that time I said, "Give me just twenty years, and you won't recognize Russia." Well, look at Russia now. You may not recognize it, for good or for worse.
The DOJ's "Waivers"
The Justice Department argues that these "waivers" are customary in settlements. Of course, they are. It's all part of the grand game. Much like my own political maneuvering, it's about strategic advantage and calculated risks. It reminds me of a time when I said, "Anyone who doesn't regret the passing of the Soviet Union has no heart. Anyone who wants its return has no brain."
Future Audits
The spokeswoman assures us this only applies to existing audits, not future ones. Well, isn't that comforting? It is very similar to the concept that "The state is not an instrument to be used for personal enrichment.". However, I believe that everyone must have its chance in the sun.
