Giggity Giggity Navy's New Best Friend
Alright so I heard about this thing called Gecko Robotics, right? And they just landed a sweet $71 million deal with the U.S. Navy. Seems like a lotta clams but apparently they got these robots that can fly swim and climb all over ships. They're basically like me but with better balance and no need for a beer every five minutes. I wish I could fly though, I'd fly right into that chocolate factory.
Faster Than Peter's Delivery of a Punchline
These robots are supposed to cut down ship repair time like crazy. We're talking about turning a three-month job into two days. Two days. That's faster than it takes me to come up with a good punchline... or remember where I parked the car. And they can assess maintenance needs 50 times faster than manual methods which is like the difference between me ordering a pizza and Lois actually making dinner. Speaking of dinner if you like this stuff then you might like reading more about China's Tech Shift A Carrot and Stick Approach.
80% Fleet Readiness? More Like 100% Beer Readiness
The CEO guy Jake Loosararian says Gecko's gonna help the Navy hit 80% fleet readiness by 2027. That sounds impressive but all I care about is being 100% beer readiness at all times. Anyway this means our brave soldiers can focus on fighting and stuff instead of waiting for their boats to get fixed. That's a win-win, baby. It's almost as good as the time I beat Ernie the Giant Chicken.
Disrupting the Defense Dudes
So, apparently, these tech startups are shaking things up for the old-school defense contractors. They're using artificial intelligence and autonomous tech which sounds really smart... and slightly terrifying. I mean, what if these robots start thinking for themselves? Next thing you know they'll be demanding beer breaks and complaining about their wives. Hey, wait a minute...
Trump's Shipbuilding Bonanza
Remember President Trump? He was all about bringing back shipbuilding jobs to America. Apparently, we've been lagging behind China for years which is why I always order Chinese takeout. This Gecko deal is part of the plan to make America great again... or at least make our ships seaworthy again. Either way, it's better than having to row across the Atlantic.
Gecko's Got Friends in High Places
Gecko's been working with all sorts of big companies like mining and energy firms to fix up their old equipment. They're like the Mike Ehrmantraut of robotics, fixing everybody's messes. They were even valued at $1.25 billion. That's a lot of money! I could buy so much chicken with that kind of cash. Giggity.
