- Amazon's website and app experienced outages affecting checkout, account access, and product pricing.
- The outage peaked with over 22,000 user reports according to Downdetector.
- Amazon acknowledged the issues and stated they were working to resolve them, asking for customer patience.
- Speculation links the outages to drone strikes on Amazon Web Services data centers in the Middle East, although Amazon denies this connection.
Like Peas and Carrots But with Error Codes
Mama always said, "Life is like a box of chocolates, Forrest, you never know what you're gonna get." Well, Thursday was kinda like that with Amazon. One minute you're trying to buy a new Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. hat, next thing you know, the whole darn thing is down. Folks couldn't check out, see their accounts, or even figure out how much that shrimp net was gonna cost. Reminded me of trying to figure out Jenny, just when you thought you had her figured out, *poof*, gone like the wind.
Downdetector and My Shrimp Boat
This here Downdetector, it's like my shrimp boat, Jenny. It tells you when things are going south. Around 2 p.m. ET, things started getting hairy, and by 4 p.m., over 22,000 people were saying things weren't right. That's a lot of upset customers wanting their doohickeys and thingamajigs. It's a bit like when I lost all my shrimp nets in that storm. I was pretty upset, but then I just went back to shrimping. Just like Amazon, they'll get back to selling. Speaking of things going south, Zuckerberg Grilled Over Teen Safety at Landmark Social Media Trial, now that's a kettle of fish I don't understand at all. These social media folks they just have too many numbers and blips for someone simple like me, I will stick to what I know.
Amazon Apologizes, Bubba Would Understand
This Jennie Bryant, she's from Amazon, and she said they were sorry for the trouble. Said they were working on it and appreciated everyone's patience. That's mighty kind of them, I reckon. Bubba would have understood. He was always patient, even when we weren't catching any shrimp. He'd just say, "Keep your eye on the ball, Forrest." Though I don't know what that has to do with shopping, but it sounds good.
Amazon Fresh and My Grocery Run
Folks were also having trouble with Amazon Fresh. Now, I ain't never used that, but I imagine it's like when I try to cook. Sometimes it turns out great, sometimes it's a mess. One time I tried to make a cake for Jenny's birthday, and it ended up looking like a swamp monster. She laughed, though, and said it was the thought that counts.
Drone Strikes and Cloud Computing What in Tarnation?
Now, here's where things get a little weird. Some folks are saying this whole mess is because of drone strikes on Amazon's data centers in the Middle East. Iranian state media even said Amazon was targeted because they helped the U.S. military. Amazon says their cloud services are working fine. I don't know anything about drone strikes or cloud computing, but it sounds like a whole heap of trouble. It's like when Lieutenant Dan got struck by lightning, unexpected and shocking.
Running Like the Wind to Fix It
So, there you have it. Amazon had a bit of a hiccup, kinda like when I accidentally ran onto that football field. But they're working on it, just like I worked on my shrimp boat. And like Mama always said, "This too, shall pass." Now, I'm gonna go eat some chocolate. I hope Amazon figures things out, cause I need to order more shrimp.
