Great Gazoo's Gobsmacker Panama Pulls a Fast One
Yabba Dabba Doo. This is Fred Flinstone reporting live from Bedrock, where the news is always rock solid. Seems like those fellas down in Panama just kicked CK Hutchison, some big shot company from Hong Kong, outta running their ports. Now, China's hotter than Wilma's cooking when I come home late from bowling. They're saying Panama's gonna "pay a heavy price". Sounds like someone's about to get a Dino-sized scolding.
Trump Card The Prez Weighs In
Now, you remember ol' whatshisname, the one with the funny hair. Well, he's been flapping his gums about China and the Panama Canal for a while now. He said it was 'vital to our country' and mumbled something about China operating it. So, naturally, them Yanks are tickled pink that Panama's doing this. The big wigs in Hong Kong ain't happy though they are doing something about it, they aren't just taking the punch, and are going to be sharing their side of the story, and after reviewing their case, you should review Arm Shares Take a Dive Ogres and Analysts Weigh In, another story that proves that big business has its issues, just like when I try to sneak out to the Water Buffalo Lodge.
Sounds Like Bedrock Justice To Me
Word on the stone tablet is that Panama's Supreme Court said those port licenses were about as legal as me calling in sick to go bowling with Barney. They reckon CK Hutchison's deal was against their constitution, whatever that means. Sounds like a bunch of legal mumbo jumbo, but if the big shots in robes say so, who am I to argue. I'm just a simple caveman, after all, who knows a thing or two about a bad deal when he sees it.
China's Boiling Point A Big Blow Up
The Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office, sounds fancy, right is throwing a tantrum bigger than Pebbles when she doesn't get her bronto-burger. They're calling the ruling "utterly ridiculous" and saying Panama needs to "correct their course". Otherwise, kablamo. Politics and economics are gonna be rockier than Bedrock's roads after a Water Buffalo convention. They want to see the decision reversed, and China is never one to joke around. I hope Panama knows what they have gotten themselves into.
Money Talks CK Hutchison Sues
CK Hutchison ain't taking this lying down, no sir. They're suing Panama for "extensive damages". Now, I don't know about you, but that sounds like a whole lotta clam shells. Their stock even went up a bit, probably 'cause investors think they're gonna win big. I can relate, just like when I tried to get a loan from Mr. Slate to invest in Dino bone futures, it might not be as sound as you thought it was. Remember, it's a gamble.
Yabba Dabba Don't Mess With the Canal
So, there you have it folks. A real Stone Age showdown over a ditch full of water. It just goes to show ya, even in the modern Stone Age, some things never change. Politics, money, and folks squabbling over who gets what. I'm Fred Flinstone, and that's the way it is, Yabba Dabba Doo.
