- Judge McCormick denies bias accusations from Elon Musk regarding Tesla lawsuits.
- She reassigns three Musk-related cases to other judges to avoid further distractions.
- Musk previously moved his businesses out of Delaware following a ruling on his 2018 pay package.
- The Delaware Supreme Court later ordered the restoration of Musk's 2018 pay package.
The Great Recusal Ruckus
Right, so apparently, this Musk fella, the one who thinks he can launch cars into space but can't manage his Twitter feed, accused some judge of being biased. Judge Kathaleen McCormick, to be precise. Seems he caught wind of some LinkedIn activity – an emoji, no less – that suggested she wasn't exactly on Team Musk. It’s like accusing Lois of having an affair with Tom Tucker because she liked his weather report. Preposterous
Emoji-gate The Scandal That Never Was
McCormick, bless her heart, claims it was all a big misunderstanding. A rogue emoji, perhaps? A digital gremlin? Whatever it was, Musk threw a hissy fit worthy of Brian after being denied a martini. He demanded she recuse herself from his cases. Now, I’m no legal eagle, but even I know that accusing a judge of bias because of a LinkedIn like is, shall we say, a bit much. It's like accusing me of world domination because I own a ray gun. Though, admittedly, that one is a little more accurate. Speaking of world stage, it is a delicate matter what is going on globally - Global Markets Rocked After Attacks on Iran: A Delicate Dance on a Razor's Edge.
Pass the Buck Judge Style
In a move that screams, "I haven't got time for this nonsense," McCormick denied the recusal motion but reassigned the cases anyway. Smart move, really. Why waste time arguing with a billionaire baby when you can just hand the headache to someone else? It’s like when I convince Brian to deal with Meg’s existential crises. Problem solved and I continue working on the next stage of my world domination
Delaware's Breakup With Musk
This isn't the first time Musk has had a dust-up with Delaware, mind you. After she dared to question his exorbitant 2018 pay package (a cool $56 billion), he threw a tantrum and moved his businesses to Texas and Nevada. It's like me moving out of the Griffin house because Lois won't let me build a death ray in the living room. Childish, really.
Supreme Court Saves the Day or Does it
Of course, the Delaware Supreme Court later stepped in and said McCormick's decision on the pay package was a tad extreme. They gave Tesla a chance to justify Musk's obscene compensation. Because, you know, billionaires need all the help they can get. It reminds me of when I tried to convince the school board that I needed a diamond-encrusted pacifier. They weren't buying it, either.
The Show Must Go On
Despite the drama, Tesla and Musk still have a couple of cases lingering in Delaware. One involves director compensation, and the other is about Musk potentially competing with Tesla through his AI venture, xAI. So, even though Musk tried to ghost Delaware, he's still stuck dealing with it. Serves him right, really. Next time, maybe he should think twice before liking inflammatory social media posts. Or, you know, just hire a decent social media manager. He could at least learn how to defend himself properly. Like I would teach Rupert if he wasn’t such a buffoon.
