Holy Crap Lois, It's a Blockbuster
Alright, so here's the deal. You know, sometimes I think about that time I fought Ernie the Giant Chicken, and it reminds me of how unpredictable life can be. Just like how everyone thought that Mario movie was gonna be another one of those stinkers like, uh, what was that thing with the talking dog? Brian, remind me. Anyway, this 'Super Mario Galaxy Movie' just went and made a huge splash! I'm talking $130.9 million over the weekend, and a whopping $190.1 million in its first five days, says Universal Pictures. That's more than I made after that time I won that pie-eating contest! And believe me, I ate a lot of pies.
The Numbers Don't Lie, Just Like When I Owe Petercillin
So, here's the thing, folks. The movie made, like, a gazillion dollars, which, you know, is a lot, even for me. But get this: it cost around $110 million to make. That's more than it costs to keep the Drunken Clam stocked for a month! They even brought back Chris Pratt, Jack Black, Anya Taylor-Joy and Charlie Day. Seems like those Hollywood types, they know what they're doing. Or maybe they're just lucky like that time I found a winning lottery ticket in my pants pocket. Rotten Tomatoes? More Like Rotten Potatoes
Now, listen up, because this is where things get interesting. So, the critics, right? Those fancy-pants reviewers with their monocles and, uh, tiny sandwiches, they didn't exactly love the movie. Rotten Tomatoes gave it a measly 40%. Forty percent! That's lower than my IQ after a six-pack of Pawtucket Patriot Ale. But here's the kicker: the audience loved it! They gave it five out of five stars! It's like that time I tried to make a soufflé. The critics hated it, but Stewie wouldn't stop eating it! Goes to show you, you can't trust those fancy-schmancy critics.
Who's Watching? Dudes, Moms, and Lots of Popcorn
Alright, so who's actually going to see this thing? Well, apparently, it's mostly dudes. Like, 61% of the audience were men. But when it comes to families, it's the moms who are calling the shots. Turns out, 52% of the parents were moms. So, lesson learned: if you want to get your kids to see a movie, ask Lois. She always knows what's up. And bring lots of popcorn. You know I love popcorn. It is almost as awesome as that time I outsmarted Death.
Summer Blockbusters are Coming. Prepare Yourselves
Jim Orr, some big shot from Universal, said this movie is gonna have a 'ridiculously strong run' throughout the spring and into the summer. Translation: this thing is gonna make a ton of money. And get this, last year, another video game movie, "A Minecraft Movie," also did pretty darn well. So, maybe I should pitch my own movie idea: 'Peter Griffin: The Movie.' It'll be about me, obviously, and it'll have lots of fart jokes and maybe a musical number. Quagmire can be in it too. Giggity!
Other Movies? Meh
Oh, and apparently, there were other movies out too. Something called 'Project Hail Mary' and 'The Drama' whatever that is, and "Hoppers". But who cares? Mario's the king, baby! Just like how I'm the king of my own little world in Quahog. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm gonna go watch the movie again. And maybe eat a few more pies. Hehehehe.
