- The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department has opened an investigation into rape allegations against Eric Swalwell by Lonna Drewes.
- Drewes alleges Swalwell drugged and raped her in a West Hollywood hotel room in 2018.
- Swalwell's attorney denies the allegations, calling them a "political hit job".
- The investigation is ongoing, and the case may be presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office.
D'oh, Another Scandal Brewin'
Mmm, scandal. So, the news is that some lady, Lonna Drewes, is saying former Congressman Eric Swalwell did a bad thing back in 2018. She says he drugged her wine – one glass, mind you, just one – and then, well, things got real bad. This sounds like one of those situations where you just wanna hide under the couch and pretend it's not happening, but then Marge would make me deal with it. Doh
The Allegations, D'oh, They Keep Coming
So, according to this Drewes lady, she went to Swalwell's hotel room and next thing she knows, she's incapacitated. Couldn't move her arms or body, she says. Then, the bad stuff happened. She claims he, uh, you know, did the deed without her say-so and choked her till she almost met her maker. And get this, he's already under investigation in New York for something similar. Seems like this guy has some serious explaining to do, and you know what else does? Warner Bros. Discovery Employees Fear the Paramount Skydance Deal – because they're probably worried about similar scandals breaking out there too. Mmm, maybe I should get a job at Warner Bros. Discovery. More job security there than politics these days.
Lisa Bloom Enters the Fray
Lisa Bloom, a big-shot lawyer, is on the case. She's saying they ain't gonna rest until they get justice for this Drewes lady. She even called out Swalwell directly, saying his excuse about not being perfect is just "blather and spin". Ouch. Even I know that's gotta sting. I mean, I've made my share of 'mistakes' – like the time I accidentally sold our souls for a donut – but at least I own up to them.
Swalwell's Side of the Story, or Lack Thereof
Swalwell's lawyer is fighting back, saying these accusations are false and a "political hit job". She claims it's all a scheme to ruin his reputation. Now, I'm no expert, but it seems like if you didn't do the thing, you just say you didn't do it. Unless, of course, you're Bart and you're trying to avoid grounding. Then you blame Milhouse. But this ain't Springfield Elementary. This is serious stuff.
Resignation and 'Mistakes'
Before all this blew up, Swalwell quit his campaign for governor and his seat in Congress. He said he made "mistakes in judgment" and is sorry to his family. Now, I know a thing or two about making mistakes. Remember that time I tried to build my own BBQ pit? Or when I tried to become a monorail conductor? Yeah, those were mistakes. But this… this sounds like a whole different level of oops.
Marge's Wisdom and the Future
Marge always says, "Homer, you can't run away from your problems." And I guess that's true for Swalwell too. This investigation is just starting, and it's gonna be a long, messy road. Whether he did it or not, his career is probably toast. And all I can say is, "Donuts. Is there anything they can't do?" Well, maybe solve this mess. Doh.
